A Monograph of Memories…

As part of the Anesthesiology Department’s 50th Anniversary celebration, a monograph compiling historic photos and milestones into a beautiful booklet was printed and gifted to each guest attending the gala held in September.

Entitled ‘Behind the Masks’ the monograph explores the vital role anesthesiologists play in and out of the OR. Anesthesiologists, while present at every operation, are often the unseen heroes of the OR. They stand quietly at the head of the table, and by design, give medications that make their patients forget them. But without the anesthesiologist to ensure the patient is anesthetized and thriving, surgeons couldn’t do what they do. Nor could patients receive essential pre-and post-operative care, airway management, and life-changing pain relief that happens outside the OR every day. You’ll find anesthesiologists in the ICUs, wards, clinics, and research labs, all working to ensure the well-being of their patients. And, often, hidden behind their masks.

Additional copies of the monograph are available at the department main office located in the HELIX building on the 5th floor. Pick up your copy today!
