Exploring Innovation and Impact: March Senior Resident Presentations
The Department of Anesthesiology is proud to highlight the March 2025 Senior Resident Presentations, showcasing the forward-thinking work of Dr. Juan Macias and Dr. Maegen Tupinio.
Dr. Juan Macias presented “Autonomic Self-Regulation for Improved Mood, Alertness and Performance,” offering insights into how targeted interventions that regulate the autonomic nervous system can enhance well-being and optimize performance in high-pressure medical environments. His talk explored emerging techniques such as controlled breathing and biofeedback that may benefit both patients and providers in perioperative and critical care settings.
Dr. Maegen Tupinio presented “Social Determinants of Health: Our Impact as Anesthesiologists,” a compelling reminder of the broader context in which anesthesiologists deliver care. Dr. Tupinio emphasized the critical role anesthesiologists can play in recognizing and addressing social factors that influence patient outcomes—including access to care, health literacy, and systemic disparities. Her presentation called for greater advocacy, awareness, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the specialty.
These presentations reflect the depth, curiosity, and compassion our senior residents bring to anesthesiology. We applaud Drs. Macias and Tupinio for their thoughtful contributions to advancing patient care and provider well-being. Watch their full presentations below!
